Donald Trump is now the 45th president of the United States. After swearing his allegiance to the Constitution in a ceremony at the US Capitol Friday, Trump delivered a 16-minute address stressing his campaign theme - "make America great again." The 70-year-old president, holding elective office for the first time in his life, told a crowd of several hundred thousand people at the National Mall that his administration will transfer power away from Washington and return it to the American people.
Former Democratic presidential candidate, Senator Bernie Sanders, is among those arriving to watch Donald Trump take the oath of office as the 45th U.S. president.
In keeping with tradition, the outgoing and incoming president are to ride together from the White House down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol for the inauguration ceremony.
