Hurricane warnings are out for parts of Alabama and Louisiana as Tropical Storm Gordon gathers steam in the Gulf of Mexico.
Forecasters say they expect Gordon to be a Category 1 hurricane when it makes landfall along the central Gulf Coast late Tuesday.
Gordon is expected to bring heavy rain, life-threatening storm surges and possible tornadoes as it gets closer to land.
The storm brought high winds and fierce rain to the southern tip of Florida Monday, forcing lifeguards to close beaches, disappointing tourists looking to spend Labor Day in the surf.
