In this week's Top Five Countdown we’re shooting off the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, for the week ending April 16, 2016.
After looking at this week’s lineup, all I can say is, wow! We get two new songs…that’s a 40 percent turnover. One is actually a re-entry, but hey…it’s all good.
Number 5: Justin Bieber " Love Yourself"
We start in fifth place, where Justin Bieber slips two slots with “Love Yourself.” What’s it like to date Justin?
Justin Bieber may be on the way out of the hit list, as his former champ “Love Yourself” falls two slots to fifth place. Model Hailey Baldwin wants us to know that dating Justin is not the easiest thing in the world. The young model tells Marie Claire magazine that it’s difficult to date someone in the entertainment industry. Hailey says you need thick skin and you must focus on that person and nothing else. Hailey also says they’re not 100 percent exclusive.
Number 4: Zayn "Pillowtalk"
Our next artist once had a relationship with one of the biggest pop groups on earth. Zayn is on his own now, and his former chart-topper “Pillowtalk” rebounds four slots to fourth place.
Zayn is back in the Top Five, as “Pillowtalk” jumps four slots to fourth place. He also opened atop the Billboard Pop Album chart with Mind Of Mine. Zayn is also in a high-profile relationship with a fashion model, Gigi Hadid…although these two seem fairly serious. They recently had a “steamy” photo shoot for Vogue Magazine.
Number 3: Meghan Trainor " No"
Meghan Trainor isn’t dating any models that we know of, but she is back in the Top Five.
Trainor scores her third U.S. Top Five hit, as “No” jumps three slots to third place. Meghan told Entertainment Tonight that she wanted a song that would be played in clubs, and would also sound distinctive on the radio. Her second major-label album Thank You arrives on May 13…so far, we don’t have any touring details.
Number 2: Lukas Graham "7 Years"
Lukas Graham has yet to hit the jackpot on the Hot 100 chart, but that sure isn’t the case Down Under. We’ll trace their Australian success after “7 Years.”
Graham spends another week in the runner-up slot with “7 Years.” The Danish quartet is tearing up the charts in Australia: “7 Years” tops the singles list for an eighth week, while Lukas Graham’s new self-titled album also debuts at number one.
Number 1: Rihanna Featuring Drake "Work"
In the U.S., Rihanna and Drake are your champs for a seventh week with “Work.” Do we finally have a release date for Drake’s next album? Hang on for details.
Rihanna and Drake top the Hot 100 singles chart for a seventh week with “Work.” For months, Drake has teased us with hints about his upcoming Views From The 6 album, but is he finally ready to deliver? Over the weekend, he confirmed that the album will drop on April 29, while also sharing a 30-second trailer for the album on Twitter.
That’s still to come…in the meantime, please join us next week for an all-new hit list.
