These are the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, for the week ending April 30, 2016.
What’s that old saying? “The more things change, the more they stay the same?” That’s what we find in this week’s lineup.
Number 5: Zayn " Pillowtalk"
Zayn sinks a slot to number five with his former chart champ “Pillowtalk.” His girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid, turned 21 on April 23. She and Zayn spent the day on the beach at Malibu, and brought their families as well.
Zayn and Gigi have been inseparable since they started dating last November…just two weeks after the popular model broke up with Joe Jonas. By the way, Gigi’s sister Bella Hadid (who is also a model) is dating The Weeknd…it’s a tight little community out there.
Number 4: Meghan Trainor "No"
Meghan Trainor retreats a slot to number four with “No.” Last week, she announced her “Untouchable” tour of North America, kicking off July 14 in Vancouver, Canada.
Last year, Meghan had to cancel a tour after suffering a vocal cord hemorrhage. Hailee Steinfeld will support Meghan on her upcoming tour.
Number 3: Lukas Graham "7 Years"
Dipping a slot to third place, is Lukas Graham: “7 Years,” but this time the Danish band weakens a slot to number three. Still, no worries: their latest album opened in third place, and their current North American tour is nearly sold out.
Lead singer Lukas Graham Forchhammer admits commercial success is gratifying, but says he never wants to become a celebrity.
Number 2: Desiigner "Panda"
Muscling his way to second place is Desiigner, with “Panda.” How did he come up with his name? This New York teenager’s real name is Sidney Selby III. He began issuing tracks as Designer Royel – Royel being his middle name. His sister convinced him to drop it, while adding an extra “I” to his new name.
Earlier this month, Desiigner signed a potentially lucrative co-publishing deal with SONGS Music Publishing.
Number 1: Rihanna Featuring Drake "Work"
Rihanna and Drake share Hot 100 gold for a ninth big week with “Work.”
Drake just announced that Apple Music will co-sponsor his Summer Sixteen tour of North America, kicking off July 20 in Austin, Texas. Co-headlining will be Drake’s frequent collaborator Future.
