Another Tibetan nun has died after setting herself on fire in southwestern China's Sichuan province.
Sources told VOA's Tibetan service that the nun, Yegha, shouted, “Long live his holiness, the Dalai Lama," and "One united Tibet, not two,” as she burned herself in a marketplace Thursday.
Last month, a woman in her 40s self-immolated in another ethnic Tibetan area of Sichuan. She was the first reported self-immolation protester of 2015.
In December, three Tibetans self-immolated in one week.
Authorities have not commented on any of the recent self-immolations.
There have been more than 130 such acts in Tibetan areas of China since 2009, but they have been less frequent in recent months, following the imposition of fines and other penalties for families and others with close ties to the self-immolators.
This report was produced in collaboration with the VOA Tibetan service.
