'The Sax Pack' is Back

"The Sax Pack", three of today's busiest saxophonists, join forces on their new CD, "The Pack Is Back."

Following their long-awaited debut album in 2008, the illustrious "smooth" jazz trio has come roaring back with a collection of 10 original tunes, including "All At Once."

The idea of a Sax Pack originated with saxophonist Jeff Kashiwa after he saw a movie about the "Rat Pack," a group of legendary entertainers led by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. Inspired by their showmanship and camaraderie, Kashiwa came up with the name Sax Pack and recruited fellow players Steve Cole and Kim Waters.

The Sax Pack's Jeff, Steve and Kim continue to keep pace with their active solo careers, even as their Sax Pack tours gain in popularity.

Since making their live debut on a smooth jazz cruise in early-2006, The Sax Pack has performed at some of the country's top venues, including jazz festivals in Pennsylvania, Florida, California and Texas. Last November, the group embarked on its first tour outside the U.S., playing five concerts in and around London, England.

All three musicians contributed equally to the songwriting on their new album. According to band member Steve Cole, the writing process is was effortless.

"We have a lot of similarities in our approach to music, but also some things that are very unique and distinctive to each of us," he says.
