Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi Among Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its 2011 nominees. They are the Beastie Boys, Bon Jovi, Chic, Alice Cooper, Neil Diamond, Donovan, Dr. John, the J. Geils Band, LL Cool J, Darlene Love, Laura Nyro, Donna Summer, Joe Tex, Tom Waits and Chuck Willis. To be nominated, artists must have released their first record at least 25 years ago. The finalists will be announced in December and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March 2011.
Taylor Swift Previews New Tracks on iTunes
Taylor Swift is previewing three tracks from her upcoming album, Speak Now, on iTunes during the three weeks leading up to its October 25 release. The title track will be sold beginning October 5. "Back To December" will be available for purchase on October 12. And, "Mean," will be sold on October 19. Thirty second previews of the songs will be available the day prior to their sale date on Comcast on Demand, XfinityTv.com and E! News Daily.
Elvis Costello, Colbie Caillat to Perform at Nobel Peace Prize Concert
The entertainment has been chosen for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Set to perform at the event are Elvis Costello, Florence and The Machine, Colbie Caillat and Herbie Hancock. The show, hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington takes place in Oslo, Norway on December 11, one day after the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize is presented. The winner of that prize will be announced on October 8.
Yoko Ono to Release Remastered Lennon Albums
On October 5, John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, will launch the "Gimme Some Truth" campaign with eight remastered John Lennon studio albums and several new compilations. The worldwide initiative commemorates what would have been Lennon's 70th birthday on October 9. The reissued albums include 1970's John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, 1971's Imagine, 1972's Some Time In New York City, 1973's Mind Games, 1974's Walls and Bridges, 1975's Rock 'n' Roll, 1980's Double Fantasy and 1984's Milk and Honey. The newly-compiled titles include the 15-track Power To The People: The Hits, the 4-CD collection Gimme Some Truth and the 11-CD deluxe set John Lennon Signature Box. Yoko Ono said she hopes the releases "help bring his incredible music to a whole new audience." She added, "By remastering 121 tracks spanning his solo career, I hope also that those who are already familiar with John's work will find renewed inspiration from his incredible gifts as a songwriter, musician and vocalist and from his power as a commentator on the human condition."
Zac Brown Tops Billboard Album Chart
Country music's Zac Brown Band scores its first Number One album on the Billboard 200 this week (week ending October 9). "You Get What You Give" also enters the Country Albums chart at Number One. Other Top 10 entries on the Billboard 200 include Maroon 5's "Hands All Over" at Number 2, Selena Gomez & The Scene's "Year Without Rain" at Number 4, Santana's "Guitar Heaven: The Greatest Guitar Classics of All Time" at Number 5, John Legend & The Roots' "Wake Up!" at Number 8 and Billy Currington's "Enjoy Yourself" at Number 9.

The 9th annual Austin City Limits Music Festival will take place October 8-10 in Austin, Texas. This year's event will feature 130 acts, including The Eagles, Norah Jones, Phish, the Strokes, Flaming Lips and M.I.A. Three-day passes to the festival sold out in a record-breaking 14 hours.
Look Who's Going On Tour!
Sarah McLachlan is taking her multi-artist Lilith Fair Tour to Australia this week. Also on the bill are Kate Miller-Heidke and The Verses. The Dixie Chicks spinoff band Court Yard Hounds were originally scheduled to be on the tour, but recently pulled out due to a scheduling conflict. "A Taste of Lilith" kicks off in Sydney on October 4. Other stops include Melbourne on October 6, Perth on October 8 and Brisbane on October 10. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
On October 6, Maroon 5 will begin the second leg of its North American tour in Santa Barbara, California. The band will be supporting its new album, Hands All Over. One Republic, Bruno Mars and Ry Cuming will share the opening slots on the 15-city trek, which wraps up on October 29 in Mahnomen, Minnesota.
Alternative rock band Green Day kicks off a South American tour on October 8. Concerts begin in Caracas, Venezuela. Also on the group's itinerary are shows in Bogota, Colombia (Oct. 10); Porto Alegre, Brazil (Oct. 13); Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Oct. 15); Brasilia, Brazil (Oct. 17); Sao Paulo, Brazil (Oct. 20); Buenos Aires, Argentina (Oct. 22); Santiago, Chile (Oct. 24); Lima, Peru (Oct. 26); and, San Jose, Costa Rica (Oct. 29).
Eric Clapton has announced his plans to perform a world tour in 2011 to support his new album, Clapton. Dates are currently being scheduled for shows in the United States, Asia and Europe. Guests on Clapton include Steve Winwood, Wynton Marsalis, Sheryl Crow, Derek Trucks and Allen Toussaint.
