Afghan officials say Taliban militants have attacked an army base in eastern Afghanistan, killing 19 soldiers and wounding two.
Authorities say at least six soldiers went missing after the attack early Sunday in the Ghaziabad district in Kunar province. Previous reports said the soldiers were kidnapped.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has condemned the attack and has postponed a planned trip to Sri Lanka.
Officials say Afghan forces have launched a mission to search for the missing soldiers.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack.
