Taliban militants opened fire in a courthouse in eastern Afghanistan Sunday, killing seven people and wounding 21.
Officials say the court's newly appointed prosecutor was among those killed in the attack in Puli Alim in Logar province, just south of the Afghan capital, Kabul.
All three gunmen were killed by Afghan security forces.
The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it was in retaliation for the government's execution of six Taliban prisoners in May. Officials say the executions signaled the beginning of Afghanistan taking a tougher stance on the insurgents.
