The Taliban has claimed responsibility for the killing of three police officers in eastern Afghanistan Sunday, including the deputy provincial chief Mohammad Hassain Adil.

The militant group says the roadside bombing in Ghazni province marks the start of its annual “spring offensive.”

Local authorities say along with the deputy chief, two of his police guards were killed and two others were wounded in the attack in Zana Khan district.
