U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has been hospitalized after fracturing 3 ribs in a fall in her office at the court Wednesday night.
An official statement said Ginsburg, 85, was admitted to a Washington area hospital early Thursday after experiencing discomfort overnight.
"She was admitted for observation and treatment," the statement said.
Ginsburg broke two ribs after falling in 2012. She has twice battled cancer and had a stent implanted in 2014 to unblock an artery.
Ginsburg, considered one of the high court's more liberal justices, was appointed by former President Bill Clinton more than 25 years ago .
