Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty has stood in New York’s harbor for 128 years, since 1886. In order to secure her spot there, the statue's creator worked hard to promote his statue concept.

To test the design, the statue was first put together in a neighborhood in Paris near the Parc Monceau.

Liberty was inaugurated on October 28, 1886 in a heavy fog. Bartholdi tugged an enormous French flag from her face to reveal her to the world.
