Somali pirates have released a merchant vessel with 21 crew members, six months after it was hijacked.
Officials in India say the MV Sinin, a bulk carrier, is headed to Sri Lanka after its release Saturday.
The Maltese-flagged ship is believed to have a crew of nine Indians and 12 Iranians. Indian newspaper reports say the ship's owners have replenished the ship's food and fuel supply.
There has been no word on whether a ransom was paid. Somali pirates often receive ransoms of several million dollars to release a foreign merchant vessel.
Pirates hijacked the Sinin February 12 off the coast of Oman, as it traveled from Singapore to the United Arab Emirates.
