Indonesian officials say at least six people have died following a volcano eruption.
The eruption Saturday at Mount Sinabung in North Sumatra province spewed volcanic ash Saturday into the nearby village of Gamber, a known danger zone located four kilometers from the volcano's crater.
Officials say the volcano in western Indonesia continues to spew hot ash Sunday, making dangerous conditions for search and rescue workers looking for survivors and victims.
The volcano had been dormant for four centuries before new eruptions began in the 21st century.
Mount Sinabung is among the more than 120 active volcanoes in Indonesia, which is prone to seismic upheaval because of its location on the Pacific "Ring of Fire," an arc of volcanoes and fault lines encircling the Pacific Basin.
