A gunmen armed with several weapons began shooting Monday morning at the Navy Yard base in Washington, D.C., with reports of fatalities and multiple injuries. Among the injured is at least one police officer.
According to the U.S. Navy, three shots were fired around 8:20 a.m. at the Naval Sea Systems Command Headquarters building, where about 3,000 people work. Employees were ordered to shelter in place.
Streets leading to the Navy Yard have been shut as heliocopters flew overhead and emergency vehicles, including a U.S. SWAT team, arrived on the scene.
