Rising Poverty, Fuel Prices in Brazil Triggers Increase Use of Firewood

Despite worldwide efforts to stop deforestation and curb air pollution, the Brazilian government says at least one-fourth of Brazil’s 214 million people have gone back to using firewood for cooking. This is happening not only in Brazil’s vast forests and rural areas, but also in Brazil’s major cities, as Yan Boechat reports for VOA from Sao Paulo.
