Revenant Wins Top Prizes at Golden Globes

British comedian Ricky Gervais was the host of the 73rd annual Golden Globes Awards in Los Angeles. And, as expected, he started off the show Sunday night with insults for the star-studded audience, calling them "disgusting, pill-popping deviant scum." Gervais fans and celebrities in the audience understand that he is known for a very irreverent style of comedy.

The Martian won for best comedic film, a category that director Ridley Scott found befuddling. Upon accepting the globe for the film about a presumed dead astronaut who survives a mission to Mars, Scott said "Comedy?"

Washington brought his wife and three of his four children on stage with him. He had trouble reading his speech and his wife told him he needed his glasses.
