South African runner Oscar Pistorius arrived at a hospital Monday to begin psychiatric tests as ordered by the judge at his murder trial.
Judge Thokozile Masipa called for the tests after a psychiatrist testified that Pistorius has an anxiety disorder which could have contributed to the fatal shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
The Olympic runner must report to Pretoria's Westkoppies hospital as an outpatient for up to 30 days.
Pistorius says he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he fired through a locked bathroom door at his home last year, killing her. Prosecutors say he shot Steenkamp intentionally after an argument.
If convicted, Pistorius could face life in prison.
He did not talk to reporters as he was driven through the hospital gate Monday.
Pistorius is known as the "blade runner" for his carbon-fiber prosthetic legs. He was the first double-amputee to compete in the Olympics at the 2012 games in London.
