LIVE BLOG: Republican National Convention, Day 3

update

'Make America First Again' was the theme for day 3 of the Republican National Convention, as vice presidential nominee, Indiana Governor Mike Pence, took center stage after other key figures, including: former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and former Trump rivals Texas Senator Ted Cruz and Florida Senator Marco Rubio addressed the convention.

Callista Gingrich introduces her husband, Newt, the former speaker of the House and who was on the short list when Trump was choosing a vice presidential candidate.

Newt Gingrich refers to comments made earlier by Ted Cruz, who told people to vote their conscience to protect the Constitution. Gingrich says there is only one candidate who will do that: Trump. Crowd cheers.

After mentioning several attacks in the past month -- mass shootings and attacks around the world -- Gingrich says we have nothing to fear from the vast majority of the Muslims in the United States. The vast majority are peaceful, he says. "They are people we would be happy to be friends and neighbors with."
