One person was killed and several dozen were hurt on Monday, May 5, 2014 when a 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Chiang Rai, northern Thailand, close to the border with Laos and Burma. Damage from the earthquake included smashed windows, cracked walls and roadways, and damaged Buddhist temples.
