Hundreds of people have gathered in the U.S. city of St. Louis, Missouri, on the second day of a planned four-day rally against police violence.
So far, the protests have been tense but peaceful.
The area has faced spasms of unrest since August 9, when a white police officer shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in suburban Ferguson. Protesters are calling for the arrest and prosecution of Darren Wilson, the officer who shot 18-year-old Michael Brown, as a grand jury considers charges in the killing.
The latest demonstrations, dubbed "Ferguson October," come after another black teen was killed this week in St. Louis. Vonderrit Myers, 18, died Wednesday night in an apparent shootout with an off-duty white police officer who was working private security at the time.
Police arrested eight people Thursday in protests following Wednesday’s shooting. But there have been no reports of subsequent arrests or clashes with police.
The planned four-day protest began Friday with a march outside the St. Louis County prosecutor's office in Clayton. It’s expected to continue through Monday, the Columbus Day federal holiday.
