Gunmen have killed a popular Pakistani educator in southwestern Pakistan.
Gunmen shot Fazle Bari, the principal of a private boys college, as he traveled to work Monday through Quetta, the capital of Baluchistan province.
Bari died on the scene and his driver was wounded. The attackers escaped on a motorcycle.
Hundreds of students marched through the streets of Quetta later Monday to protest the attack. Police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd.
Meanwhile, a roadside bomb exploded elsewhere in Quetta, killing one person and injuring at least three others.
Pakistani authorities have been fighting an ethnic insurgency in Baluchistan province for years. The Baluchi struggle is distinct from the Taliban insurgency, which the Pakistani government is fighting other parts of the country.
The Baluchistan militants seek more autonomy for the province and a greater share of the profits from its natural resources.
On Sunday in Quetta, a remote-controlled bomb attached to a bicycle killed at least three people and wounded about a dozen others.
