Nigerian police say four people have been detained for allegedly stealing election machines at the Lagos airport.
Police say the suspects were taken into custody overnight Friday.
They allegedly stole 20 of what are known as "direct data capture machines" after being unloaded at the airport Monday.
Authorities say 16 of the machines have been recovered.
Police are investigating whether others may have been involved in the heist.
Officials say the thefts will not impact voter registration set for January 15 and lasting two weeks.
Nigeria will hold elections for president, parliament and state level races in April.
