The Palestine Liberation Organization has called on President Mahmoud Abbas to halt security cooperation with Israel in apparent retaliation for Israel's freezing Palestinian tax revenue.
The PLO's Central Council made its recommendation Thursday after a two-day meeting. It cites what it calls Israel's "failure to abide by agreements signed between the two sides."
President Abbas has not yet said if he will carry out the PLO recommendation and Israel has yet to respond.
Israel withheld badly-needed tax revenue from the Palestinians in January after the Palestinian Authority announced it would seek to join the International Criminal Court - a move strongly opposed by Israel and the United States.
Security cooperation between the Palestinians and the Israeli military is aimed at sharing information and preventing violence between Israeli troops and the Palestinians.
In an incident Friday, a suspected Palestinian motorist drove his car into a group of pedestrians outside a police station near East Jerusalem, injuring several people, Israeli police said.
Police said the driver got out of the car holding a knife and was shot and wounded by a security guard.
