A neighbor of Oscar Pistorius says he found the Olympic athlete kneeling and praying over his dying girlfriend after he shot her in his Pretoria home.
Testifying on the fourth day of Pistorius' trial, radiologist Johan Stipp said he entered the athlete's home minutes after hearing screams and shots and saw Pistorius weeping by Reeva Steenkamp's body.
Stipp says he tried to help the 29-year-old model, but that she showed no signs of life. He says he noticed wounds on her right thigh, her upper right arm and on her head.
Stipp says Pistorius was "emotionally very, very upset," adding that he thought the athlete was going to hurt himself.
Pistorius has admitted to shooting Steenkamp, but says he mistakenly believed he was firing at an intruder. Prosecutors say Pistorius killed Steenkamp after an argument.
On Monday, Pistorius pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, recklessly discharging a firearm and illegally possessing ammunition.
If convicted of premeditated murder he faces a life sentence.
Pistorius is known as the "Blade Runner" for his carbon-fiber prosthetic legs. In 2012, he became the first double-amputee to compete in the Olympics.
