Pakistani intelligence officials say airstrikes against Taliban positions in the northwest tribal regions have killed at least 19 militants.
Officials said at least five suspected militants were killed in a Pakistani strike in Orakzai agency and another ten were killed in an assault in Kurram agency.
In a tribal area of Pakistan near the Afghan border Sunday, intelligence officials say U.S. drone aircraft fired missiles at a suspected insurgent's home, killing at least four people.
In the past year Pakistani forces have been carrying out anti-Taliban offensives in several parts of the tribal region, particularly in South Waziristan. U.S. missile strikes in the tribal areas are also targeting Taliban and al Qaida commanders, frequently in the North Waziristan region. On Sunday, local people in North Waziristan found three bodies of men apparently killed by militants.
The dead were found with notes that warned against spying for the United States.
Taliban and al-Qaida militants routinely accuse local people in the tribal region of spying and helping U.S. drone airstrikes target insurgent commanders.
Elsewhere, in Pakistan's southwest Baluchistan province, police say a remote-controlled bomb attached to a bicycle killed at least three people and wounded 12 in the capital Quetta.
An official says Sunday's bombing damaged a police van.
There has been no immediate claim of responsibility. The central government has long been fighting separatist insurgents in the province, who regularly target government security forces.
