Pakistani activist Mukhtar Mai says she will continue to speak out for the rights of women despite setbacks to her cause. Her resolve was expressed Wednesday in a bilingual VOA Tweetchat.
In April, the Pakistani Supreme Court upheld the acquittal of five of the six men accused of gang-raping her in 2002. Since her assault, she has raised her voice against crimes against women in her country that are sanctioned by custom and social mores.
Her advice to women in a similar position: "Don't lose hope even if I couldn't get justice. Keep on raising your voice."
