Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned a U.S. Embassy official to formally protest continued drone strikes on Pakistani soil.

The summons was a swift reaction by the country’s new government to a suspected U.S. missile attack hours earlier. Pakistani officials said seven people were killed by two U.S. missiles in the North Waziristan region near the country’s border with Afghanistan.
The deadly assault was the second suspected U.S. drone attack in Pakistan in the last two weeks. On Wednesday, Sharif vowed to stand up to Washington over its use of drones.
