Pakistan is protesting an Indian attack on a military post along the countries' disputed border in Kashmir.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry said the deputy high commissioner of India was called to the foreign office and handed a protest note on the "unprovoked Indian attack on a Pakistani post in the Hajpir sector."
Sunday's incident in Kashmir killed a Pakistani soldier and wounded two others.
Pakistan said Indian troops crossed the de-facto border known was the "Line of Control" and "physically raided" a Pakistani military outpost in the Bagh region. They said Indian forces withdrew after an exchange of gunfire.
India officials dismissed the Pakistani claims as baseless, saying their troops returned fire from across the border.
Pakistan's Foreign Ministry is strongly urging the Indian government to take "appropriate measures to avoid the recurrence of such incidents."
India and Pakistan have accused each other of several violations of a 2003 ceasefire in Kashmir, a region they both claim.
The nuclear-armed neighbors have fought two wars over Kashmir since gaining independence from Britain in 1947.
