The Pakistani Taliban has released video of what it says are the severed heads of 12 soldiers.

Reporters who saw the video say they saw the heads on the ground and the soldiers' belongings spread out on a sheet. Several militants are standing over the heads, including one holding a large ax.

The video surfaced just after Pakistani military officials reported 15 soldiers missing after a fight with Taliban militants who crossed into the Bajaur tribal region from Afghanistan.

Pakistani officials have not confirmed the identities of the dead soldiers.

Elsewhere in Pakistan, authorities say a car bomb killed at least 11 people Friday at a market in the northwestern town of Matani. At least 14 were wounded.

No one claimed responsibility for the bombing. But officials have blamed the Pakistani Taliban for such attacks in the past.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP.
