The U.S. State Department has released a new batch of emails from Hillary Clinton’s private email server, revealing that one document contains classified information.
The documents were not marked classified at the time they were sent.
The State Department posted the 112 emails Friday, the latest release of the emails the Federal Bureau of Investigation recovered during its investigation into Clinton’s use of a private server while she was secretary of state.
The classified information is contained in an email from Clinton to her deputy chief of staff, Huma Abedin, in 2010. The email contains transcriptions of two telephone conversations that a senior U.S. diplomat had with top leaders from the United Arab Emirates.
Many of the newly released emails are near duplicates of emails that were made public earlier, including emails forwarded from Clinton to aides with the additional words “Please print.”
The emails are being released in response to a lawsuit filed under the Freedom of Information Act.
Clinton, who is the Democratic nominee for president, has been hounded by questions regarding her use of private email instead of a government account. Critics say she was trying to shield her communications from the Freedom of Information Act.
The former secretary of state has apologized for using the private email server.
