N. Korea Threatens to Release Recordings of Secret Talks With South

North Korea is threatening to disclose recordings of a secret meeting it held with South Korea to prove Seoul called for summit talks with Pyongyang.

The North's official Korean Central News Agency says it will release the recordings if South Korea refuses to reveal what was actually discussed during the meeting last month in Beijing.

Pyongyang said last week that Seoul went so far as to offer money to its delegates in exchange for holding three summits over the next 10 months.

South Korea disputes this, saying the real purpose was to secure an apology from the regime for two military attacks last year that killed 50 people.

Seoul is insisting that Pyongyang apologize for the attacks in order for relations to improve between the two sides.

Some information for this report was provided by AP and AFP.
