South African President Jacob Zuma says 67 South Africans died when a church building collapsed last Friday in Lagos, Nigeria.
Calling Tuesday a particularly difficult time for his country, he described the tragedy as the largest number of South Africans to die in a single incident outside the country in recent years.
Nigerian authorities say a guest house collapsed on the grounds of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, which is a major attraction for religious-minded tourists.
Investigators believe the strain of additional stories under construction on top of the house caused the collapse.
It is unclear if there are any more victims or what their nationalities would be.
