Voting rules: New York is a "closed" primary, which means only registered Democrats can vote in Tuesday's Democratic primary. And only registered Republicans can vote in the GOP contest.
Unregistered voters: There are 3.2 million voters in New York who have registered with no party or a minor one. They will not be able to vote in Tuesday's Democratic or Republican contests.

New York Democratic Presidential Primary by NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist on April 14 shows Hillary Clinton with a 17-point lead over Sanders, 57-40.
New York Republican Presidential Primary by NBC/Wall Street Journal/Marist on April 16 shows Donald Trump with a 29-point lead over nearest rival John Kasich and a 38-point lead over Ted Cruz. Results showed Trump favored by 54 percent, over Kasich, with 25 percent, and Cruz with 16 percent.
