NATO says a coalition airstrike in eastern Afghanistan has killed a commander with the al-Qaida-linked Haqqani network.
The coalition says the local Haqqani leader, Hakimi, was killed Sunday during a joint operation in the Mohammad Agha district of Logar province.
NATO says Hakimi was directly involved in the transport of explosives and weapons to insurgents throughout the region.
The coalition says no civilians were injured in the airstrike that killed the militant commander.
The Haqqani network has been blamed for a number of attacks against international forces in Afghanistan.
