The U.S. National Archives has released 2,000 pages of documents from former president Bill Clinton's time at the White House, including notes, memos and speeches that had been withheld from public view.
The collection covers a large range of topics, including Clinton's final year in office, Supreme Court nominations and discussions about foreign policy.
The documents feature White House concerns about Rwanda and whether to label the mass killings there in 1994 a genocide. Legal advisors argued that making such a determination could increase the political pressure for the United States to intervene to stop the violence.
Other records related to then-vice president Al Gore, who ran for president in 2000 and lost on a recount vote in the state of Florida to George W. Bush. Advisors to Clinton urged him to concentrate during his final years in office on helping Gore win the election.
Many of the documents detailed the Clinton administration's unsuccessful efforts to overhaul health care, an initiative led by Clinton's wife, former secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton's new book about her time in the State Department comes out on Tuesday. It is titled Hard Choices.
Thousands of pages of records from the Clinton White House have already been released this year.
