Afghan officials say a bus carrying personnel for a mine-clearing group was struck by a roadside bomb blast in the southern region of the country Sunday.
Afghan public health officials say four people were killed and more than a dozen others were wounded in the explosion in Kandahar province.
Elsewhere in southern Afghanistan, the International Security Assistance Force says one of its service members was killed Sunday by an explosion in the volatile region.
Also on Sunday, ISAF said their service members detained a man carrying bomb materials and pictures of ISAF vehicles.
NATO says a joint force unit stopped the man from setting up the bomb in the Sabari district of Khost province.
The bomb paraphernalia was destroyed by a bomb disposal squad.
Meanwhile, an ISAF statement says a patrol found a rocket-propelled grenade and a fuel cell under a hay stack Sunday in the Tarin Kot district of Uruzgan province. The cache was also destroyed by a bomb disposal squad.
In another development, the joint force said it arrested two suspected militants in north Lashkar Gah in the Helmand province, after intelligence information indicated militant activity in the area.
Separately, NATO says an Afghan soldier shot and lightly wounded an alliance soldier in Ghazni province. The NATO-led force in Ghazni is mainly manned by Polish troops.
NATO officials say the Afghan soldier fled after the shooting.
