Social microblogging site Twitter was experiencing down time for a while Tuesday.
Many of the company’s 300 million active users were greeted with error messages and sporadic updating.
Twitter said “Some users are currently experiencing problems accessing Twitter. We are aware of the issue and are working towards a resolution."
The outage began around 8 a.m. GMT.
People took to Facebook and Instagram, and the hashtags #TwitterDown and #Twitterpocalypse were quickly trending on both.
Twitter, which launched in 2006, has experienced growth pains in the past, when outages were more common, but the company said it had invested in its infrastructure, which seemed to solve the issues until today.
