No time to stand in line for a new iPhone 7? No problem.
One hundred New Zealanders had robots stand in line for them, and they’ve been there since Sept. 9.
The idea comes from the New Zealand-based Apple carrier Spark, which bought 100 Alpha 1 robots to save some of its customers from having to wait in line.
"Technology these days is so much more advanced than it used to be, so why shouldn’t our customers have their tech queue for them instead?" said Spark’s Clive Ormerod.
Customers who have an Alpha 1 waiting in line for them are able to watch a live stream from their robot, and they’re even able to use their phones to control the bots, which are capable of doing push-ups, yoga, kung fu and dancing.
Once the new phone is purchased, the customers get to keep their little electronic surrogate.
