First Lady Michelle Obama laid to rest the idea that she may have future presidential ambitions.
Speaking at the annual South by Southwest music festival in Austin, Texas, Obama said she had no intention of running for president of the U.S.
"There are so many ways to impact the world. You don’t have to be president of the United States to do wonderful, marvelous things," Obama said at a festival panel discussion on empowering women, according to Reuters.
Speaking more concisely, the 52-year-old first lady said “I will not run for president.”
Obama was on the panel to discuss her “Let Girls Live” initiative which she launched in March of last year. The initiative aims to help some 62 million girls around the world who are not in school.
"For me, 62 million girls not getting an education, that is personal," she said.
The first lady, who is a lawyer by trade, did say that she would continue to work for people after she and her husband leave the White House next January.
"There is so much that I can do outside of the White House and sometimes there is much more that you can do outside of the White House without the constraints," she said.
