Move over Craigslist. Facebook is launching a new service called Marketplace.

The service allows users to buy and sell items over the social network.

The company says some users were already doing something like Marketplace in Facebook Groups.

“This activity started in Facebook Groups and has grown substantially. More than 450 million people visit buy and sell groups each month — from families in a local neighborhood to collectors around the world,” the company wrote in a blog post.

To connect with Marketplace, Facebook said there is an “shop icon” at the bottom of the Facebook app.

From there, users can see items for sale that are nearby in a variety of categories, including household items, electronics and clothing.

Once you’ve found something you want to buy, simply direct message the owner and work out payment and delivery details on your own. Facebook does not facilitate either.
