Mexican officials say soldiers uncovered a mass grave Tuesday containing at least 17 bodies in the state of Guerrero.
Authorities say they will continue investigating Wednesday in the town of San Migul Totolapan along the Pacific coast.
Mexican authorities say the area where the bodies were found has seen a rise in violence between rival drug gangs.
More than 34,000 people have been killed since Felipe Calderon became Mexico's president in late 2006 and began a crackdown on drug cartels. He has deployed thousands of troops in the war against the cartels.
