Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has fired seven Interior Ministry generals without an immediate explanation for the action.
The officials dismissed Friday include the deputy head of the Moscow Interior Ministry department and the ministry's inspector general.
It is not clear if the firings are related to last month's bombing at Moscow's Domodedovo airport that killed 37 people.
Earlier this month, Medvedev fired several federal security officers in connection with the bombings and said more dismissals were possible.
