Mali held long-delayed local elections Sunday.
The vote was canceled in several districts, mainly due to security concerns, and one candidate was kidnapped.
Jihadists have overrun some towns, contributing to the delays.
"These elections have been delayed four times. That's enough," said President Ibrahim Boubacar as he cast his vote.
U.N. Secretary-General Ban ki-moon has called for a peaceful vote "where political and security conditions allow."
Mali has had trouble implementing a peace deal and has been battling jihadists in the north.
