Making Ice Storms in a Lab

Water can be dangerous stuff for people when it freezes and falls from the sky, covering the ground with snow or ice. It is perhaps even more dangerous and can cause significant damage when it falls as rain and then freezes on the ground. And while most of us are smart enough to come in out of the cold, trees aren't so lucky, and scientists are trying to discover how they react when they're suddenly covered with ice.
