Which Donald Trump will show up during tonight's State of the Union address?
Will it be the fire-breathing Trump who lashes out at his critics? Or as White House officials suggest, will Trump take a more bipartisan, unifying tone?
Trump won praises from some of his critics for his more conciliatory approach during his first address to Congress a year ago.
"The time for trivial fights is behind us," Trump declared in that speech.
But just days later, Trump was launching unsubstantiated claims of illegal wire-tapping against his predecessor, former President Barack Obama.
In what appears to be a presidential first, the Trump re-election campaign is offering to display the names of donors during its broadcast of the president's State of the Union address.
A fundraising email said those who donate at least $1 to the campaign will have their name appear during the livestream broadcast.
“This is a movement,” the campaign email says. “It’s not about just one of us. It’s about ALL of us. Which is why your name deserves to be displayed during Tuesday night’s speech.”
The Washington Post quoted a Republican National Committee spokesperson as saying the pitch had generated $1 million in contributions from more than 75,000 individuals as of midday Tuesday.
What has President Donald Trump learned in his first year as president? That you have to lead with "heart."
That's what Trump told network news anchors during a pre-State of the Union lunch Tuesday.
Trump says, "You govern with all of the instincts of a businessperson, but you have to add much more heart and soul into your decisions than you would ever have even thought of before."
That's according to excerpts released by the White House.
