Trump attributed his election to “a movement,” one that rallied people of various backgrounds.
“Every single American will have the opportunity to realize his or her fullest potential,” he said, promising to put “millions of our people to work” and to rebuild the country."
"We will call upon the best and brightest to leverage their tremendous talent," he said.
He also told the international community that, under his administration, the United States would "deal fairly with everyone" and would "look for common ground, not hostility."
Vice President-Elect Mike Pence takes the stage to celebrate victory:
“This is a historic night. The American people have spoken, and the American people have elected their new champion. America has elected a new president, and it’s almost hard for me to express the honor that I and my family feel, that we will have the privilege to serve as your vice president of the United States of America.”
Trump thanked his staff, his supporters and his surrogates, including former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
Trump praised the head of the Republican National Committee, Reince Priebus, as "a superstar."
