When former President George W. Bush and wife Laura Bush cast their ballots today, they chose not to back the Republican nominee. Instead, they checked the box for "none of the above," the Associated Press reported spokesman Freddy Ford as saying.

Bush's younger brother, Jeb, been an establishment favorite in the broad Republican field of candidates, but his campaign failed to gain traction and he dropped out of the race in February.

Former Attorney General Janet Reno did not vote before her death. Reno's sister, Maggy Hurchalla, told Politico that the first female U.S. attorney general wanted to vote, but was too sick to get to the polls or even sign her name. Reno, who served in President Bill Clinton's administration for eight years beginning in 1993, died Monday from complications related to Parkinson's disease.

On a more serious note, dump trucks filled with sand -- to protect against blasts -- have surrounded both Trump and Hillary Clinton's locations as they and their suppporters watch the results of this pivotal vote.
