For the first time, observers from the Organization of American States will be watching the U.S. elections. They've sent observers to California, Colorado, Kansas, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New York, Rhode Island and Wisconsin, as well as the District of Columbia.
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will also be observing, looking for irregularities, intimidation and other signs that this vote might not be free and fair.
Already the Trump campaign has complained of irregularities. A Nevada judge has refused a request by the Trump campaign to release records from four early-voting stations that the Trump campaign says stayed open too late Friday, causing what it called “anomalies” in the Las Vegas-area vote. The Trump campaign also asked for the release of the names of paid and volunteer poll workers at those locations. Nevada’s Republican Party chief Michael McDonald also criticized the late voting hours, which resulted from long lines at polling stations at a Mexican market and several shopping centers. Nevada District Judge Gloria Sturman said county officials are already required to preserve most of those records, and she criticized the request for the release of poll workers’ identities, saying it would make them vulnerable to harassment and abuse.
