Kurds Celebrate Ouster of Islamic State From Tal Hamis
- By Zana Omar
Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) and Women's Protection Units (YPJ) fighters reclaimed Friday the village of Tal Hamis in northern Syria from Islamic State fighters. Tal Hamis had been an IS stronghold for much of Syria's civil war, and YPG forces lost some 75 fighters in a failed effort to retake it last year. News of the victory had Kurdish fighters and others in the nearby city of Qamishli celebrating the retaking of the village. Zana Omer reports for VOA. Elizabeth Arrott narrates.
